Toolbox talks do not protect employers, but they do help to protect employees.
SGTT21 - STAFF FEEDING PIGS
Always use mechanical handling methods instead of manual handling if possible e.g. Wheelbarrow to carry and where possible position protein and potato bags.
Know your capabilities; take care near the pigs.
Checks that should be carried out before feeding the pigs:

Make sure the pigs are in the Ark or away from the area where you are going to feed them

Wear gloves to protect against cuts and punctures
-
Wear safety boots or shoes to protect your feet

Be aware of the pigs at all times

Don’t be complacent
-
Wash your hands or use the disinfectant
By doing so we hope to be able to

Reduce the Number of accidents and incidents on site
SGTT22 - PUBLIC FEEDING PIGS
Be aware of site conditions, only feed the pigs raw vegetables or the potatoes provided in the tub next to the enclosure.
Know your capabilities; take care near the pigs.
Be aware of the following before feeding the pigs:

Do not go into the enclosure

Be aware of the electrical tape around the enclosure, marked with a warning sign

Do not let the pigs feed from your hands, throw the food into the enclosure

Be aware of the pigs at all times

Don’t be complacent

Wash your hands or use the disinfectant after feeding the pigs
