SGTT25 - HOT WORKS PROCEDURE
Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification

Assess the work area: Identify potential ignition sources, combustible materials, and any other hazards.

Identify less hazardous alternatives: Consider if the work can be done without using heat, flames, or sparks.

Document the risk: Record the identified hazards, control measures, and any specific instructions for the hot work.
Preparation and Isolation:

Clear the work area:
Remove or cover any combustible materials that could be ignited.

Ensure proper ventilation:
Provide adequate ventilation to prevent the buildup of flammable fumes or gases.

Isolate the work area:
If necessary, isolate the area to prevent the spread of fire or other hazards.

Check for gas leaks:
If applicable, ensure the work area is free of flammable gases before commencing hot work.
Safety Equipment and Precautions:

Provide appropriate PPE:
Ensure workers wear the necessary personal protective equipment, such as fire-resistant clothing, gloves, eye protection, and respirators.

Have fire suppression equipment readily available:
Ensure that fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and other fire suppression equipment are readily accessible.

Implement fire watch procedures:
Designate a fire watch person to monitor the work area and be prepared to respond to any fire or emergency.
